Mike Rose - Airport Fire Officer

Mike was born in Cirencester and attended Cirecester Deer park school. Whilst at school Mike had the opportunity to spend a week with delta jets as work experience, this then led to him joining as a volunteer doing all aspects of work ranging from re-fuelling to engineering. Mike continued to do this until he finished college at 18 gaining A levels in ICT, and Electronics. Mike was then offered a part time job with Cotswold Airport as a re-fueller until joining the Royal Air Force in November 2005 he was awarded the RAF Benevolent fund trophy for displaying the greatest effort and determination on flight during basic training. Mike then rejoined Cotswold Airport in 2006 as re-fuller/trainee firefighter. Mike is married to Leah and has just had a baby girl called Elissa His hobbies include judo, motorcycling and is currently restoring a 1968 BSA Bantam and a 1978 Thornycroft Nubian crash tender.
 

 

 

Paul Coomber - LCAS (Low Cat Aerodrome Supervisor)

Paul Coomber started out in the fire safety industry in 2000 as a fire extinguisher technician, which also involved holding fire safety training courses for businesses in and around Bristol. At this time he also worked for a private Fire crew that provided fire cover for public and fund raising events. He also started to work part time for the fire crew at Kemble airport helping out on weekends. Paul was unable to continue with this due to full time work commitments, until January 2009 when he was invited to return back to Cotswold airport again on a part time bases. Paul was taken on full time in September of 2009 and went on to pass his LCAS course in November 2009. Paul has a keen interest in his local football team and enjoys spending days off with his wife Linda and his two little girls. He is now responsible for running all of the companies First Aid training courses.

 

Paul Harris- Fire Fighter


Originally from Bristol but now lives in Wiltshire, Paul has been a fire fighter at Cotswold Airport since 2001, 2 years of that was part time. Paul does various jobs on the airport. He is responsible for bird hazard control and also for the fire sections PPE. Paul is a member of the St. Johns Ambulance. Before joining Cotswold airport a member of the works fire brigade he was a part time firefighter for a local helicopter company and the Royal Bath and West show doing this for about 20 years.


 

 

Steve D Mills- LCAS (Low Cat Aerodrome Supervisor)

Steve was put through a short but intensive course and drafted onto the fire crew to help out with numbers. Then, a short while later he was given a full time position, later still a course to IFTC in Teeside promoted him to the role of Low Category Aerodrome Supervisor. In this capacity he has served at Cotswold Airport for the past six or so years, having had a refresher this year, which, happily, he passed with a somewhat greater degree of certainty than he did his first.Steve trained at an external agency five years ago, to deliver training in the fields of Fire Safety & Extinguisher use as well as Fire Marshal courses. He now provides training for pilots of light aircraft and helicopters who need fire safety training, as well as courses for the general public and companies, both on-site as well visiting clients sites all over the country.
 

 

William Barker - Fire Fighter

Bill Barker has been working at Kemble/Cotswold Airport since it was taken over privately by Ronan Harvey. He started off as a volunteer crew member before the airport was licensed, and has been a full time fire-fighter here since 2003. Bill is often the life and sole of any party, but works hard in all his daily tasks, especially in his new role as Airport Fuel Manager, which he took on at the beginning of 2011.
